Shawn Rogowski

Vice President

Local to the area, Shawn was born and raised in Chester, Virginia attending Thomas Dale High School and Richard Bland College. At 18 years of age, while in college, Shawn started his own wedding tent rental business. In 2010, at age 22, Shawn sold his tent rental business and started working at Usher Insurance as a Producer. In 2020, Shawn was promoted to Vice President of Usher Insurance.

Shawn lives in Midlothian and is married with two children, Sloane and Summit, and a Golden Doodle named Carver who was named after the middle school where he and his wife first met.

In his free time, Shawn enjoys playing golf and hockey.

Geoffrey Usher

Principal/Owner

Geoff began his insurance career selling life insurance after college. A few years later, he realized he wanted to start his own agency. Geoff began the Donegal Mutual Career Builder program for start-up agencies and graduated in 3 and a half years to become an independent agent in 2005. Today, Geoff has spent 17 years in the industry with 15 of those years as agency owner at Usher Insurance. In his free time, Geoff stays busy with sports, church, activities with his kids and also enjoys Tennis, CrossFit, and Hockey.

Chip Barnes

Vice President

Chip Barnes was born and raised in Midlothian, Va. After graduating from Midlothian High School in 2005, Chip obtained his Bachelors degree from Radford University.

Chip began working with Usher Insurance in 2011 after a brief time playing professional hockey in the Federal Hockey League in NY. Chip’s favorite part about being an insurance agent is helping his clients save money while still having the best available coverage.

In his free time, Chip enjoys playing hockey, golf, and spending time with his family, Wife Monica, Son Ryder, and dog, Bailey.

Michael Hankins

Director of Agency Operations

Born and raised in Short Pump, Michael attended Deep Run High School and Graduated from Bridgewater College in 2011 as a 4 Year Starter on the Men’s Golf Team.

Michael began his insurance career as an Underwriter and Territory Sales Manager for Alfa Alliance and Donegal Insurance. In 2019, he joined Usher Insurance as the Director of Agency Operations.

Michael lives in the West End with his Wife and two children, Harper and Brooks. In addition to providing his clients with customizable coverage while saving them money, Michael enjoys playing golf, family adventures, and entertaining friends.

Johnny Acosta

CSR/AGENT

Born and raised most of his childhood in Riverside CA, Johnny moved to Richmond VA and completed High School at Hermitage High School and earned his Associate degree from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.

In 2015 Johnny began his insurance career with State Farm where he gained knowledge and became a producer in the Richmond Area. Johnny joined the Usher Team in the summer of 2021.

He is a licensed agent for Property & Casualty, Life, Health & Annuities and holds a Valid VA Notary Certificate.

Johnny lives in the Henrico area with his wife and 2 daughters. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, football, & soccer.

Ilse Gomez

CSR/Agent

Ilse Gomez was born in Mexico but emigrated to Richmond Virginia with her family at 8 years old.

Ilse graduated from Lloyd C. Bird High School in 2006 and began to search for her future career.

Ilse also served as one of the leaders of the Hispanic Youth Encuentro for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond from 2004-2006.

Ilse began working with Usher Insurance in 2017 after working for a dental office as their receptionist for over 10 years. She wanted to put her bilingual skills into good use and so she decided that she would become a licensed insurance agent and begin her new journey. Ilse is passionate about helping everyone meet their needs when it comes to their insurance.

Ilse enjoys traveling when she can, spending time with her family, husband, and dog, Brooklyn.

Brittney Watkins

CSR/AGENT

Brittney was born and raised in Midlothian, Virginia. She graduated from James Madison University in 2022, earning a bachelor's degree in Health Science, minoring in entrepreneurship.

Brittney is licensed for Property and Casualty and in Life and Annuity. She joined Usher insurance in the fall of 2022.

In her free time, Brittney enjoys working out, reading, and being with friends, family, and her Boxer, Brooklyn. She is a loyal VCU basketball fan and loves competing against others in pickleball.
